LPGA 2013 Tour Kick Off


This Thursday marks the beginning of the 2013 tour season for the Ladies Professional Golf Association. Kicking off the season in Canberra, Australia, the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open is a much anticipated event amongst pro golfers.

The 2013 Tour will open the season in Australia for the second-consecutive year, with a field of 157 players competing for a $1.2 million purse at the Royal Canberra Golf Club. The player to watch this week is American Jessica Korda, a now third-year Tour player in 2013, who is set to defend her title.  However, Korda is up against a strong field in Canberra. Fighting to take the first title of the year is the Rolex Rankings No. 1 Yani Tseng, who is coming off of a three-win season in 2012.

Also to watch—three additional top-10 players in the Rolex Rankings are 2012 Rolex Player of the Year, Stacy Lewis, 2012 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year, So Yeon Ryu and No. 8 Jiyai Shin. These top players are sure to put on a competitive game, making this opener a must-see for golf enthusiasts.
