Four Benefits of Exercising (Regularly)
We all know that exercise is good for us, but many of us are not aware of how much it impacts almost every facet of our lives. Here are four benefits to regularly exercising (that is right, it needs to be a habit).
No. 1: Exercise controls weight
Exercise can help prevent weight gain and helps in maintaining weight loss. Engaging in physical activity allows you to burn unwanted and unnecessary calories. The harder the activity, the more calories you burn. Simply. However, you do not need to start off with an intense exercise or even work out for a large amount of time. Start small and work your way up.
No. 2: Exercise combats health conditions and diseases
According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise can help combat serious health conditions and diseases. “Worried about heart disease? Hoping to prevent high blood pressure? No matter what your current weight, being active boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good,” cholesterol and decreases unhealthy triglycerides. This one-two punch keeps your blood flowing smoothly, which decreases your risk of cardiovascular diseases. In fact, regular physical activity can help you prevent or manage a wide range of health problems and concerns, including stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, arthritis and falls.”
No. 3: Exercise improves mood
This is big in the gloomy states and especially during winter. Exercise can help improve your mood after a stressful day.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed.” Exercise also boosts your self-esteem. The more you work out the better you feel about your appearance.
No. 4: Exercise boosts energy
Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and endurance. Exercise and physical activity deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and help your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. When your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you have more energy to go about your daily tasks and to play that second round of golf.
