Today is the last day of the 2012 California Women’s Championship
Day one and two of the championship was greeted with a cool and windy start. However, the sun is shinning on today’s last day in which a new champion will claim the 2012 California Women’s Championship title (last year’s champ is not in the field this year).
From the CWC Facebook — First round leader Emily Talley shot an even par 72 on the 6,157 yard track carding four birdies and four bogeys. Talley’s two-day total of 3-over-par 147 (75-72) is two strokes ahead of challenger Hannah Suh of San Jose. Suh also shot a 72 today posting a steady round with two birdies and two bogeys for a 36-hole score of 149 (77-72.)
Joining the group with another 72 was Spencer Heller of Turlock who carded one birdie and one bogey. Heller struggled in yesterday‘s opening round shooting an 84, but today’s even par round garnered her most improved in the field. Heller sits in third place at 156, (+12) and is nine behind Talley.
Tiffany Nichols of Castro Valley is in fourth at 157 (83-74) while Renata Young of Antioch holds on to fifth at 158 (84-74.)
